Ghillie’s Bothy is a small detached self-catering cottage for two on the edge of the Shinnel Glen. Within its own courtyard and surrounded by rolling hills it is the perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful and romantic holiday. The cottage is available all year round with prices ranging from £345-£575 per week depending on the season. Changeover days are usually Saturdays but we can accommodate other days by negotiation. With the picturesque village of Thornhill six miles away, Moniaive ‘Festival Village’ just two miles away and walking, fishing, mountain biking and sight-seeing within easy reach, there really is something for everyone here.
In the past the cottage would probably have been the home of an outdoor worker or gardener at the main house, which was formerly Tynron Manse. Ghillie’s Bothy has been sensitively renovated and modernised to create a welcoming retreat for couples (and their dogs) wishing to relax in the tranquility of the countryside with the sound of sheep and birds as background music.

We had an amazing week at The Bothy . It is well equipped and full of little extras . I would strongly recommend this is a great bolt hole if you want peace and quiet and amazing scenery.

We have just arrived at Ghillies Bothy for a week of relaxation. What a gorgeous place, just perfect for us and our old dogs. Lovely hosts. Looking forward to spending a week here.

Just to let you know that Sapper has a bug and has medication, hopefully he will be fine on a few days. So sorry we had to leave your lovely cottage. I hope we left everything in order.
