Robert Burns was born on 25th January 1751 in Alloway near Ayr. He was the eldest of seven children.
This portrait is considered the best likeness of Burns. It was painted by Alexander Naysmith who was a good friend. The portrait hangs in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
