Our first visit to this strange and interesting castle situated at Glencaple near Dumfries. For a start its triangular! Although a ruin there is enough of the castle standing to get a really good idea of its original size. The carvings in the courtyard are really well preserved, as are the ornate fireplaces in many of the rooms. Highly recommended for a family day out. In a beautiful setting with a handy tea room in the grounds for the essential post exploration cake!
There was even a tower for Rapunzel to let down his hair!
